ORSA invites it's members to the Mill Street Pub at 5.30p for our Annual General Meeting followed by a presentation of the Limberlost Place presented by Moriyama Teshima | Architects' Will Klassen OAA.
Project Description
”Limberlost Place is a 10-storey exposed mass timber, net-zero carbon emissions, assembly occupancy education building for George Brown College in Toronto, Ontario. Procured through an international design competition, Moriyama Teshima Architects in collaboration with Acton Ostry Architects Inc. were selected to realize a building that was a highly aspirational vision to introduce mass timber into the Toronto lexicon of public buildings and to achieve sustainability targets well in advance of the city’s step plan to 2030 carbon reductions (Toronto Green Standards Tier 4). The remarkable aspiration of this building is the use of exposed mass timber in an educational building where the assembly occupancies and the teaching spaces occupy the full verticality of the building, with research centres at the top of the building and classrooms on every level. To our knowledge, this is a first of its kind in the world use of exposed mass timber to this height for this occupancy.”
This is a free event to all members and food will be provided (the first 50 people to get their ticket from the eventbright link below will get their first drink free).
