Competition Information:

BUILDING EQUALITY IN ARCHITECTURE CAPITAL REGION

We’re a volunteer-powered organization advancing equity in architecture and design across the National Capital Region. By fostering mentorship, advocacy, and connection, we empower underrepresented voices to shape the future of our built environment.

COMPETITION GUIDELINES

Section 1: Eligibility

  • This competition is open to all those currently living in Canada. 

  • Submissions will be accepted from both individuals and teams. There is no maximum number of entries per person or team.

Section 2: Legal and Intellectual Property

  • Logo must be original and not infringe on any copyright laws.

  • Winning logo will become property of BEACAP and will be used at the discretion of BEACAP.

Section 3: Submission Guidelines

  • Please submit the following as a .zip to beacapitalregion@gmail.com, on or before October 31 / 2025 / 11:59 pm EST. 

  • Download full guidelines for submission requirements.

Section 4: Design Guidelines

  • Size: At least one version of the logo must be 320 x 320 pixels or a 1:1 aspect ratio for social media profiles. Other formats may be submitted at designers’ discretion.

  • Colour: No restrictions on colours.

  • Adaptability: The logo must be easily reproduced, scalable for large and small formatting, and able to be printed on all types of media.

  • Representation: Design should be effective at representing BEACAP as an independent chapter of the larger BEA community across Canada 

  • Other BEA chapters include: BEA Toronto (BEAT), BEA Atlantic (BEAA), BEA Prairies (BEAP), BEA North (BEAN), BEA Calgary (BEAC), and BEA West (BEAW).

Section 5: Judging

  • The winner will be selected based on creativity, technical execution and effectiveness representing BEACAP. See Scorecard for full scoring breakdown.

  • The winner will be selected and contacted in the new year.

  • Judges will be announced at a later date.

Section 6: Prize

The winner will receive:

  • A copy of Canadian Modern Architecture, 1967 to the present signed by Elsa Lam.

  • A copy of Feminist City, signed by Leslie Kern.

  • Opportunity to work with BEACAP to further develop our visual identity system.
